I am running a network over LAN with a Windows 10 laptop and Windows 10 Tablet PC.

I can see the machines on both computers but I can’t connect, it keeps saying authentication failed.

But when i go from my Windows 10 tablet to my old Windows 7 laptop it works just fine… I have no idea how to solve this.

I literally tried everything I know.

Are you using password authentication to log in?

Username formats which can be used are detailed here:

Logs would also help us understand why authentication is failing. Instructions on how to extract them are available here:

    Please submit them to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com.

I found the problem, apparently you have to create a local account in Windows 10, never knew this.

Having a local user account on the remote computer you want to connect to is pre-requisite, like you have on the other PC that you have tried and successfully connect to (like when you connected from your tablet to the Windows PC you used account credentials to log in to the desktop, for example) You must always use a username and password to log in to the desktop that is running there.

Glad to know it’s now working.
