I’m trying to test NoMachine using the latest free version on a freshly installed Redhat 8 computer (not a VM) :

Using Xorg, I only get a black screen after connecting from Windows 10.

    nxserver.log shows:
    5525 25525 2021-04-24 20:42:14 986.889 NXSERVER User 'localuser' logged in from '192.168.222.3' using authentication method NX-password.
    25365 25365 2021-04-24 20:42:15 594.600 NXSERVER WARNING! Cannot check WM on display :0 EEXIST

    nxerror.log shows:
    No protocol specified:
    25365 25577 20:42:15 594.509 HostWmRunningHelper: WARNING! Failed to open display ':0'.

I get similar error messages when trying XWayland instead.   Although it’s worse in that case, as the client loops and then dies.

Any suggestions?  I’ve attached the zip log of the collected logs with debug enabled (I hope!)  thanks. – Mark

    Hi mrl,

is the server a headless machine (no monitor attached to it)? In that case, you can try one of the suggestions here: https://knowledgebase.nomachine.com/AR03P00973.

Thanks!   Making it headless fixed the problem!
