I need help resolving an issue with ‘drag and drop’ within NoMachine while using Ubuntu.

I have a local PC running Ubuntu 20.04.3, which is the client. This has NoMachine 7.7.4 installed.

I have 2 servers, also running Ubuntu 20.04.03. One is in my closet and in my LAN. It is virtualized from a Dell server using KVM. The other is in the Linode cloud. It is also virtualized of course (and they use KVM too). Both servers have NoMachine 7.7.4 installed. Beyond the hostnames, all other settings are identical between them.

The local server in my LAN works fine, and is able to drag and drop copy/paste for download and upload perfectly.

When dragging a file from the Linode based server, the cursor only gets to the edge of the NoMachine window and is then stopped. I cannot drag the file any further to copy to the local desktop via GUI in this way. Upload via drag and drop does work to the remote Desktop though.

Wayland is not running on either. It shows X11 (x.org). I don’t have multiple users logged in. All machines have default Gnome desktop environment installed.

I have spent all day troubleshooting this. The only thing of interest is that the server in my LAN shows :0 and run level 5 when a who -a command is issued in the terminal. I did configure this machine a few years ago. The Linode server shows two tty users and run-level 3. This machine was created a couple months ago.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.
