    Hello,

I’m currently experiencing the following problem: from my NoMachine Clent I can connect to an Ubuntu machine *if* a user session is already open. On the other hand, if nobody is logged in and the system displays the login screen, then I can’t connect and I (sometimes) get a “no local display available” or (most of the times) a “Error is 108: Connection reset by peer” message.

I’m attaching both the server (NoMachine-log-*.zip) and client (ghidora-NX-*.zip) logs.

    I will appreciate any help.

    Thanks in advance.

    Environment:

    – Client: Win 10 Pro 21H1, NoMachine free 7.6.2

    – Sever: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, amd64, NoMachine free 7.6.2, running on a VmWare VM

Hi, if you are using Wayland you can try the advice in the following article

Connecting to a Wayland-based desktop running in a Linux virtual machine
    https://knowledgebase.nomachine.com/AR04R01083

    or disable Wayland.

    Hello Britgirl,

thank you for your suggestion. Actually, I already looked in the page you mention, but I only tried option #1 (desktop compositor). Also, I didn’t find in my logs the messages listed under “How to identify the problem”, but I might have overlooked them.

This time, I tried option #2 (Use EGL capture) and now my problem is solved: I can connect to the login screen too.

    Many thanks for your help
