    I have NoMachine installed on a Digital Ocean VPS with 2 vCPU and 4GB RAM running on Ubuntu 18.04.  Video is a little choppy.  It’s usable, especially with presentation videos, but movies are too choppy for users, even browsing scrolling is slightly delayed — I wouldn’t be able to recommend this to users if this is the norm.  Are these hardware specs sufficient to handle youtube videos and scrolling browsers, or is it expected that one would need more specs?  Would a VPS running with a GPU be helpful?  Is there any server / client tuning that needs to be done?

    I’m specifically interested to learn if browser scrolling / youtube videos can be just as responsive as a locally installed Ubuntu OS on local hardware, and if so, what’s necessary to achieve that?

    Hi,

    in order to detect what is the bottleneck, network or hardware resources, for a start I would:

    – check CPU usage on both client and server side;

    – gather NoMachine session statistics as shown in https://www.nomachine.com/DT10O00157&dn=session%20menu#9.

    Please also make sure you are using H.264 encoding. More info in this article:

    What do I need to do to allow NoMachine software to use H.264?

    Hi s1037989, can tell me how you install NoMachine on Digital Ocean? Are you using Ubuntu Server or Desktop?
