I’m using the latest version of NoMachine (free) with Windows7 (server) and Lubuntu 19.04 (player). I had assumed it was connecting over a cloud, sort of like RealVNC (free version) but now I am not sure. It seems NoMachine connects over the local network?

Do both connecting methods (with NoMachine free) use the local network?

NoMachine can connect over any network to the remote PC provided you know its IP address, not just on LAN. With the release of NoMachine Network the need for knowing the IP address will be removed, giving users two ways to connect. Is this perhaps what you are referring to?

Thanks, I’ve been comparing different RD and sharing options from various free orgs and upgradable companies. So that contributed to my confusion over terminology. I think I get it now!
