I am running NoMachine server on Linux and NoMachine Player on Mac (i.e. I want to use my Linux desktop on my Mac).  This is a free version so I’m connecting to a physical display and not a virtual display.  In fact, I have both my laptop and my Linux desktop right in front of me when I was testing this out.  It asked me to accept the key, and I was prompted for username and password (so connection to server is available).  I was able to get authenticated, and on my Linux desktop, I even see a message saying that I’m connected from my laptop.  But after 1 second, there’ll be a message saying that I’m disconnected.  On the Mac side, the window just disappears, with no connection established, and no screen ever seen.

Linux side: ubuntu 12.04 LTS, Gnome, NoMachine free version 4.0.367

Mac side: Mac OS X 10.8.5, NoMachine Player 4.0.352

On the Mac side, I configure my session to use NX protocol port 4000.  On the Linux side, I turned off both “Require permission to let remote users connect” and “Require permission to let the remote users interact with the desktop”.

Anything I’m missing?  Could you please help?

Hi Lawrence, I noticed you are using 4.0.352 on the client side and 4.0.366 on the server side.

Can you update both to 4.0.367 (use the automatic updates ;-)).

It is likely to be related to a bug which we’ve fixed in the latest release, here: https://www.nomachine.com/TR12K04092.

Don’t understand why but today the problem went away and I can use my remote physical desktop successfully.  My server is already 4.0.367.  I’ll upgrade my client to 367 just to make sure.
