    Hi,

I am running ubuntu 18.04 with Gnome Desktop on local machine and the connection seems to work, but have the error messages on the local machine/s /var/log/syslog file. Are there anyway to fix these errors? Thanks!

NoMachine product and version on local and remote machine (free version, Workstation, etc)?

Latest version on local and remote. But the error is irrelevant to remote machine.

Whether the problem arises connecting to a physical or a virtual display?

Either display. The problem arises when NoMachine starts at local machine

Remote and local Windows/Mac/Linux version (Windows XP/7/8, OS X 10.x, Ubuntu xyz, Mint x.y, etc.)?

Remote mac os Mojave, local Ubuntu 18.04- If on Linux, desktop version (GNOME. KDE, whatever) on client and on server.

    GNOME

    Hello Richcmwang,

Looks like the error message can be triggered by adding or changing
any *.desktop file. It isn’t caused by error in *.desktop file. You
can easily trigger this message by changing date:

    sudo touch /usr/share/applications/firefox.desktop

In syslog I’ve found other type of error messsages:

gnome-software[3456]: Failed to find one package for NoMachine-base.desktop, /usr/share/applications/NoMachine-base.desktop, [0]

You can disable them by adding to:

    /var/lib/dpkg/info/nomachine.list

    these lines:

    /usr/share/applications/NoMachine-base.desktop
    /usr/share/applications/NoMachine-base-unity.desktop
    /usr/share/applications/NoMachine-base-xfce.desktop
    /usr/share/applications/NoMachine-nxs.desktop
    /usr/share/applications/NoMachine-nxv.desktop
    /usr/share/applications/NoMachine-status.desktop
    /usr/share/applications/NoMachine-status-unity.desktop
    /usr/share/applications/NoMachine-status-xfce.desktop
