Our users have been connecting to Windows servers from Linux workstations using NoMachine and are using drag and drop to transfer files from the Windows host to the Linux host, which works great. However, the permissions for transferred files appear to always be set to 600 when I’d prefer 660 (or something else, depending on the users’ needs). I spent some time trying to figure out a way to configure NoMachine to set different permissions on transferred files but I wasn’t able to find anything.

Users are currently manually modifying permissions after the file transfers, but I’d prefer to avoid having them execute this step to save time and complexity.

Is there any way to configure permissions for transferred files? Are these somehow being inherited from the Windows permissions or does it just default to 600?

By design, permissions for transferred files in NoMachine sessions are inherited from the OS to which they are downloaded
