After I updated to 6.10.12 this morning, I now get a green screen effect whenever I try to drag a windows unless I disable client-side hardware decoding. Previously, I was using the free version of 6.9.2 without problems. The server is macOS 10.15.4 and the client is Windows 10 18362.778. None of the graphics hardware or drivers have changed.

I would be happy to collect and submit logs if this would be useful.

    Hi,

it could be due to this change:

Client side logs (instructions in https://www.nomachine.com/DT10O00163#2.3) and info about your graphics card and installed drivers would be very useful. Thanks.

Thanks for getting back to me. I reduced the resolution on both the client and the server to below 1920×1080, but the green screen issue still happens. See the attached screenshot for an example. I’m also attaching log files saved from that connection.

The client is running on a laptop, and the video hardware is an NVIDIA Quadro M2200. I updated the driver to version 442.92, which is the latest version released on 16 April 2020, and I still get the green screen.

Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help. In the meantime, I will run without client side hardware decoding.

I’m having a very similar problem as well with both machines on Windows after the latest update – I’ve made a separate thread because I didn’t want to pile onto this one, but I imagine the two problems are related.

I also am stuck at a green screen now. I have two monitors remotely and locally. All 1920 x 1200. This was not a problem with the previous version. I was able to get one session spanning both monitors. Now I get a green screen regardless of the client side hardware decoding being selected or not.

I have found an older version in my Downloads directory. After uninstalling the new version, rebooting, removing the .nx directory, installing the old version and deleting all my old sessions, it is working again. I have also disabled the auto-update for now.

rtsholiday, can you submit those logs to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com?

For everyone affected by the “green screen” issue please consult the Trouble Report we opened which contains further details:

Thank you. I’m glad it’s possible to get back to the behavior of previous versions by explicitly disabling client side hardware decoding in the latest NoMachine release.

Update, I have tried again and got it to work. Clicking “Disable client side hardware decoding” leaves a green screen, however if I disconnect and then reconnect, it works. I’m including the compressed log file from when it was a green screen just in-case it helps at all.

Please try to update your Intel graphics drivers and check again if hardware decoding works with the new drivers.

    Brit Girl,

Your fix works with my Asus 2070 card on an Asus 270A Prime.

    Thanks

Where can I find “Disable client side hardware decoding”? And will it work if I revert back to 6.9.*?
