I’ve managed to get everything out of my ~ by changing settings in the player.cfg and specifying it at run time with –config, that works fine.  Problem is, an ~/.nx directory is recreated everytime I run the player, despite said settings.  Within is a /fonts folder which holds what appears to be cache files and a CACHEDIR.TAG.

I can see ~/.nx hardcoded into libfontconfig.so (803), but obviously it’s compiled with no access to source so I can’t change that.

My question is whether there’s a variable that I couldn’t find, to change it’s pathing?  Also is there any thought towards following the XDG Base Directory specs?

Hi jason. The path you see in libfontconfig.so is just the default one, but you can change it by setting the variable NX_CONFIG in the environment where you’ll start the player. It is a path representing where the client will store its data, by default ~/.nx. If you also want to move user files/folders created by the NoMachine server services you’ll have to change the key UserNXDirectoryPath in /usr/NX/etc/node.cfg.
