Hey, NoMachine newbie here. Using version 7.9.2.

I’m using NoMachine to control a Linux VM from its Windows 7 host. I finally got it running and now it’s basically like VNC. I see the entire desktop and I can launch apps.

What I really want is to launch specific apps and see separate windows for them. I understand that this is called “floating windows” and is a feature of NoMachine, but I’m not sure how to use it. How do I even tell NoMachine “Please run GEdit in floating window mode”?

    Can you explain?

    Thanks for your help,

    Ram Rachum.

Hi, floating windows is a feature of the NoMachine Linux Terminal Server range. I suggest you try the Workstation:
    https://www.nomachine.com/product&p=NoMachine%20Workstation.

Remove the free edition of NoMachine, install Workstation and then from your connecting client, start a custom session.

Further information is also available in the online knowledge base: https://knowledgebase.nomachine.com/AR03L00795 and in chapter “4.2. Connecting to the Remote Host and Choosing Session Types” https://knowledgebase.nomachine.com/DT04O00140#4.2.
