When removing a standard name for a remote machine, you have to delete the text letter for letter. Normaly you hold down the backspace button to remove al text.
Using an iPad 2 with ios 7.1.2

Interestingly, it appears that if you have a blue tooth keyboard connected to an iPad , you can hold the backspace key down and it repeats.
Thanks for the iPad app. It is great and I use it a lot now to access my work linux machine from home. I don’t use an external keyboard, so I found it difficult to work on a linux shell from the iOS keyboard. I would suggest if it is possible to add “the arrow buttons” and “Tab” at least to the onscreen keyboard (examples can be seen in some iOS VNC apps). Also it will really help Linux users to add a gesture for the middle button 🙂

We’re heavily focused on the extended keyboard functionality and we plan to include it in the next release. We’re also working on the middle mouse button, but it’s part of another feature that will require more time to be completed. If there is a gesture that we can use to quickly introduce that button press, we’ll add it for sure!I use it on my ipad 2 ios 8.1 and I have these issues:
(virtual desktop, not physical)
1. there is no h264 support, only vp8 which degrades performance. Is vp8 hardware decoded on the ios and ipad?
2. because of the above, the performance is considerably slow, is there a way to make it run fluid enough and snappy enough? it is very delayed right now and I see no reason why there is this delay on a local LAN. with a 0.1 ms wifi link there should not be any delay whatsoever especially in the low quality settings. if you can do that then it will make it the best remote hands and shoulders above the rest.
3. it has a performance bug. if there is low traffic, the incoming stream pauses for 1 second every 2-3 or so seconds. If there is a fullscreen video playing instead consuming a bigger amount of bandwidth, it doesnt do those pauses. it is especially evident when you start to play an mp3 on an otherwise static remote desktop, it then stutters so much that it is unbearably and it is useless to listen to. one workaround that i found is if I hold a finger on the ipad screen continually scrolling it around then the stuttering stops and it is fluid. I guess some kind of connection “sleeping” happens when there’s low traffic and no touching activity.

We’re not aware of such a problem so we’ve started an investigation, thank you for reporting it.

A better support for bluetooth keyboard is in the pipeline, we’ll release something soon.

This is currently in testing phase and as I said in my answer to mia, it’ll be included in the next release.

But what about the h264 support and the video performance issues (the pauses)? Can you tell us about them? Is h264 support included with the iOS client or not? (I couldn’t find any information about that)?

We have reproduced this and have commenced investigation.
Is h264 support included with the iOS client or not? (I couldn’t find any information about that)?
No, it’s not available in the current version.
