Hi.
I use as a server with Ubuntu 12.04 installed NoMachine workstation.
The server is installed in Italian and if I access the keyboard is in Italian.

As a client use a notebook ubuntu 12.04 in Italian, with Italian keyboard, everything works fine.
On the notebook I have installed NoMachine client enterprise.

When I connect using NoMachine and I create a virtual desktop, the system asks me to rename the folders with names in English and all the menus are in English.

I uninstalled NoMachine 4, reinstalled nomachine version 3, after connect all works correctly in Italian. Now I reinstalled version 4 and the problem remain.

The keyboard is Italian and works properly.
When the notebook is connected with NoMachine to the virtual desktop, the keyboard works correctly in Italian, but the whole system is in English, and the system asks me to rename the folders with names in English.

What can i try ?

Hi.
It could be some environment variable that is missing in the start command of your desktop manager.

Please copy&paste the output of the “env” command, as run in the physical desktop and on the virtual desktop session.

That is:

Open a terminal on the physical display and run:
# env

Start the new remote desktop session on the NoMachine server.
Open a terminal and run:
# env

Please provide the complete output.

Where did you set that? You must set it on the server, in the target user’s home, not on the client.

Don’t forget also to export the variable:

export LANG=”it_IT.UTF-8″

I agree with what is written in the document you reported. But I remind you that on the same server with version 3.5 everything works fine. With version 4, the language does not work. with the protocol nx when I have time I try with ssh.

I created the file .profile on the server /home/$USER/.profile
If I export the LANG variable, in the VirtualDeskto the variable LANG is set correctly. But if I restart the VirtualDesktop LANG variable is unset.
It’s possible to set the variable lang with the NoMachine client?

I want to try ssh instead of nx I think maybe using ssh works.
