Is there some way (maybe even a workaround) to prevent user from starting the NoMachine.app and changing the settings?

Or some way to password protect the NoMachine.app (a password for the app itself, not a system user/pass) so that the user must validate before they enter/access the settings?

Hi. You could protect the file $HOME/.nx/config/player.cfg by changing the ownership to (for example) root:wheel and removing the write access to other users/groups, so users with lower access rights will not be able to store new settings. Please note, NoMachine client will still apply the changes requested by any users, but every time the application will be started it’ll use settings stored in the write protected CFG file.
