    Hi All

Had this working with UltraVNC and VNC Viewer some time ago, but was very troublesome.

I carry a laptop with Linux and a Fitlet with Windows 7 that has a few older applications on it.

Basically the need is to connect the two together with an Ethernet cross over cable, then when I fire up the Fitlet a small speaker tells me that the bootup is complete.

Then running NoMachine on Linux should allow me to connect.

When I initially set this up, both PCs identified the other, but from there I am having difficulties with the settings to make a connection. Win 7 does not have a password enabled, so every time I try to connect it fails with the password box in red.

The other issue I have is where to find the IP address of each of the machines within NoMachine.

    Any suggestion appreciated.

    Regards

    Hi All

In addition to the information above:

I am using the latest Free version and the same product on both machines.

The Linux PC uses Cinnamon and the Win 7 is Pro SP1.

Both PC’s have keyboards & Monitors for the setup purposes.

Since posting I have been able to connect to the Linux pc from the Win7 pc,

but not the other way around. Have also changed Win 7 to include a password, but it still fails on the password.

I can’t use a password once it is working.

    Regards

    Hello Dinosaur,

What’s the exact output of nxplayer when you’re trying to connect to Windows? Does it say ‘Authentication failed’, or perhaps it’s stuck on spinning wheel, or perhaps something else happens?

    Hi All

    The message was “Authentication Failed”

The problem was trying to connect to Win7 which was an Administrator account.

As soon as I created a normal user the connection succeeded.

It still would not allow a connection without password, but solved that by allowing Win7 to boot up into the normal user account (with password) automatically.

Tried to switch user to Admin but NoMachine would not let me. So then had to share all the apps across to the other user.

Awesome product, just a shame that it takes two days to get your first post on line and then another two days before anyone bothers to reply, but hey beggars can’t be choosers.

It is a Freebie after all.

    Regards

I now have a Headless Fitlet with just a crossover Ethernet cable to carry around.

    Hello Dinosaur,

Windows 7 by default limits the use of blank password to console login only.
You can disable this restriction using policy editor as described in this thread:

I’m not quite sure why you say it takes two days for topics to get online. We’re possibly in a different time zone to you which means if you post it during your day, it’s likely our night time. We could automatically publish them, but moderation was a necessity to not give spammers, shrills and trolls a free rein to ruin a courtesy service we offer to users of the free version, mostly, as well as evaluators. And from what I see you got an answer within 24 hours every time you submitted, except for the weekend in the middle (our developers don’t always work on the weekends though it’s known to happen ;-)). The forums are a public space, not just a free channel to developers, who for obvious reasons have their time taken up with i) development and ii) support enquiries for subscribed customers. For example, those users of the freebie NoMachine who want a direct line to the support team and don’t want to use our moderated forums have the Enterprise Desktop option 🙂

    Hi All

Britgirl , I am not complaining. Like I said “Beggars can’t be choosers”

I am a Dutch / Australian on contract in southern usa (Arkansas) , so, yes timezones are way out.

Also I am used to automatic Forums where there are no people involved in the registration or moderation of posts (other then the posters).

Either way many thanks for a great product and the responses.

    Regards

We’d also like to have an automatic forum – this used to be one, then for the reasons I hinted at above, we decided to moderate it. Keep on using NoMachine and keep on giving your feedback. It’s helpful to us in our shaping of the product and the services we offer. If you’re in driving distance to Nashville, come by to the Lisa18 Conference. We have a stand there 🙂
