Problem: mouse and keyboard actions from the client are not registered on the server.

Scenario: Logging in to the server (clean lmde2:http://www.linuxmint.com/download_lmde.php) from client (lmde): login works fine, screen shows well, changes on the server is shown quickly on the client, but trying to manipulate the server through the client doesn’t work.

Environment: I have three computers (lmde2-server, lmde-laptop, and win8.1surfacePro). lmde2 can connect and interact fine with the two others, and lmde and win8.1 work perfectly with each other both ways. Neither win8.1 or lmde can interact with lmde2 (which is the what I’m aiming for). On the lmde2 box I have tested with both Cinnamon and Awesome windows managers, no difference. Awesome(v3.4.15) window manager on lmde works fine.

Version 4.6.3 on all computers, free version, download 30.05.15.

Wanted: Ideas for potential fix or further debug, and long term fix.

    thx for replies 🙂

We weren’t able to reproduce this problem on mentioned platforms. Does it always happen?

Logs would be useful, can you send us logs from client side once you’ve
reproduced the problem? Instructions are here: https://www.nomachine.com/DT04M00076#4

Circumvented the main issue by reinstalling lmde2. Only change in install procedure was to install nomachine before running apt upgrade.

Although a new problem arrived; Keyboard input from client to the server always defaults to sending us layout signals, even when I have no layout and keyboards attached to both server and client.

Can you describe what happened exactly and what did you expect in such a case?

Expected: Any key typed client side should result in the same typed character on the server.

Issue: ‘-‘ key typed client side (on norwegian keyboard layout) results in ‘/’ character typed on the server (us layout).

Both computers have Norwegian keyboards and correct language+layout settings. The NoMachine client receives correct characters on each machine respectively, eg when typing in connections I get the correct characters as input. But when either machine is connected to the other, input from client to server behaves like the local machine has us-keyboard layout.

Also when a connection is active, the admin overlay (with input, devices, display, etc menus) receives correct characters.

I tried your setup but cannot reproduce. Could you send client and server logs to forum (at) nomachine (dot) com?
