    Hi,

This might be already answered somewhere, but it is not 100% obvious for me:

Given two PCs on LAN (local network), if I install NoMachine on both of them, and connecting from PC1->PC2, is NoMachine requires internet? I.e. will NoMachine send any informational details of the local network to anywhere?

This implies my other question too: if PC1 and PC2 are far, do I need to forward ports (4000?) for NoMachine to work?

I’d like to have a Remote Desktop software which works only locally and never communicates anything to outside (even if the computer(s) have internet). Is NoMachine for me?

For now what I’ve seen (connection for 1 single minute – kindof ‘Smoke-test’) it seems truly awesome!

    Thanks.

    Hi,

If you want to connect locally you don’t need the internet. You don’t need configure nothing in the router. Just install NoMachine. Internet is required for automatic update, which you can easily disable (https://www.nomachine.com/DT10O00149#2).

In addition, if you use NoMachine free version, Workstation or Small Business Server, you can disable UPnP, which allows external access (go to “Disabling UPnP / NAT-PMP port mapping” section on article: https://www.nomachine.com/AR11L00827).
