    Hi.

Just discovered NoMachine, love it, its fast, easy. But I have one issue.

I installed the server on my Win11 machine at home, so I can access it remotely from time to time. On this computer, I also sometimes need to dial a PPTP VPN to access my work stuff. Just a regular VPN connection in Windows.

For some reason, just the fact that the NoMachine server is running, prevents the VPN from completing the connection or working. Even if i’m not sharing the desktop or doing anything with NoMachine. Sometimes the VPN connection completes, but I cant ping anything on my employer’s network. The only way to make it work again, is to shut down the server (stop doesn’t work). I tried dozens of tests and there is definitely a direct link.

I tried disabling as many network-related features on the server (port sharing, etc.), I tried changing the port from 4000 to some other random numbers, nothing works.

Can you think on a reason why the server would somehow confuse the Windows VPN client? Thanks.

    Hi

we have no idea why that would be happening and aren’t aware of NoMachine creating issues with VPN connections.

Can you open CMD and execute command: route print in four cases:

    1) with nxserver in running status and when you cannot connect though VPN
    2) with nxserver in running status and when you can connect though VPN but you cannot ping (as you mention: “Sometimes the VPN connection completes, but I cant ping anything on my employer’s network.”)
    3) with nxserver shutdown and you are not connected to VPN
    4) with nxserver shutdown and you are connected to VPN

Please copy output to connection files and send via email to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com.
