    Hey All,

I am running Ubuntu 20.10 desktop with NoMachine free version 7.0.211. The Ubuntu machine is connected to the domain and I am able to login with domain accounts directly. While connecting with NoMachine I get the error message on screen “Session negotiation failed. Error cannot create home/nmuser@domain”.

The logs on the machine have the below.

    2244 2244 2021-02-07 00:06:08 846.791 NXSERVER User 'nmuser@domain.tech' logged in from '192.168.1.XXX' using authentication method NX-password.

    2244 2244 2021-02-07 00:06:09 879.932 NXSERVER ERROR! Received error message from node 'localhost:4000', 'NX> 596 Error: Cannot create /home/nmuser@domain.tech/.nx. Error is 'Permission denied'.\n'

Appreciate any pointers to fix this. Thanks in advance.

Could you try to change the path in key UserNXDirectoryPath in node.cfg to some directory where everybody has access? Could be something temporary as /tmp/

Second question is, are you using AD domain? Or is it some kind of LDAP configuration?
    How it is configured?
Could you try to provide login in the format:
    DOMAIN\username

Thanks @og00r. Changing the NX Directory path fixed the issue.
