Server: CentOS 6.9 tried with gnome and xfce4 (same symptoms on each)
Client: Fedora / Win7 (same symptoms on each)
NoMachine server 6.0.66 latest (free version)
NoMachine clients: latest on each
symptom: when connecting via NoMachine to the console of the server, for a couple seconds the server screen blanks out, and the client shows the content as expected. Then the server and client screen resolution suddenly get blown up.
When ending the session, the client exits normal, the server screen resolution remains blown up, srand -s shows the correct numbers,
server has to be rebooted to get back to normal.

I guess the server changes its resolution automatically in order to match the client. Try to turn off “Match the client resolution upon connecting” in the session display settings.
