    Hi,

On some systems I have I see artifacts on the screen when looking via NoMachine ?

I wanted to know if there’s anything else to check apart from the typical suggestion below.

    EnableHardwareEncoding 0

    Then restart the service:

    /usr/NX/bin/nxserver –restart

Running HP Z systems with nvidia GPUs on CentOS 6.4-6.9

    Thanks!

Asking as [removed] doesn’t have the same problem.

For sure it depends on the hardware encoder being enabled on the server side (it can’t be reproduced with software encoding), but we suspect that also the specific decoder in use could help to trigger the issue.

Are you connecting from a Windows client? I this case, would you try the following?

    1. Re-enable hardware encoding on server.

    2. Then download dlls from:

    https://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/win32/shared/ffmpeg-4.2.2-win32-shared.zip

(or alternatively go to https://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/ then select 4.2.2 + windows 32 + shared and download build).

    3. Go to Nomachine installation directory on client machine (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\NoMachine\bin) and rename libav.dll to libav.dll.backup (or similar).

    4. Extract ffmpeg-4.2.2-win32-shared.zip and copy these files:

    avcodec-58.dll, avutil-56.dll, swresample-3.dll

    to Nomachine installation directory.

    5. Run the NoMachine player and try to reproduce the issue.

Would a Windows 10 VM do as well as client ? I’m connecting from Linux…or Mac. But I can use Parallels on Mac to run Windows..

Yes, it would, provided you make sure you reproduce the issue also on the Windows 10 VM before applying the instructions.

Apologies for the radio silence on this. I’ll report back. I have a Win10 client to try with… to connect to my CentOS server with NoMachine 6.9.2

I’ve tried, but no luck. It seems when an app is using the GPU considerably, the problem worsen. [removed] is less affected by this.

New NoMachine version 6.10.12 has been released (fixing https://www.nomachine.com/TR04R09608). Please update and check if the issue is still present.

Thanks I’ve tried on both client (Win10) and server(CentOS6.4) and the issue persists. I think is related to the app… but I just struggle to understand why [removed] is ok.

Could you send a screenshot showing the issue?

If the issue only occurs when using the hardware encoding, that would easily explain why other products don’t have this problem.
