    Hi,

I recently installed NoMachine on a clean install of Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS and Windows 10.  I’m able to connect successfully from Windows to the Ubuntu machine if I’m logged in, logged out, or if I restart the machine.  However, if I shut down the Ubuntu machine completely and turn it back on I’m not able to connect and get a “Error is 108: Connection reset by peer” error. When I manually look at the Ubuntu machine I can see that NX service hasn’t started and only starts once I log in.  Has anyone run into this before?  It’s weird that this only happens on a cold boot and not with restarts.

    Thanks.

Ok after futher testing I get the “Error is 108: Connection reset by peer” error when disconnecting the physical screen and trying to run headless.  Some articles mention that NXServer will try to emulate a desktop if no physical screen is attached, but something is going wrong.

    Hello gasde,

We weren’t able to reproduce the problems in our laboratory.
Could you gather logs from the affected host like it’s described in:

    https://www.nomachine.com/DT10O00163#1.1

    and send to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com please?

Thanks for responding, I just sent the server logs.  To clarify the workflow, everything works if a physical screen connection is present.  However, 1) if I’m logged in as the user and disconnect the screen I’m able to connect, but the screen freezes after connecting and 2) If I restart the device and remove the display I get the “reset connection” error from above.  The server logs are from #2.

I’m also purchasing a dongle, which I’ve heard from other forums posts will work.
