I’m running Win10Pro (x64) and recently installed the update to 5.3.9. During the reboot, Micro$oft decided to install Windows Defender which caused my usual AV (AVG free) to stop working. After killing Defender and reinstalling AVG, I noticed that the tray icon for NX was not there. I tried running NoMachine Service and starting it up, but I was never able to see the server from my client machine. After snooping around the forums, I decided to see what Process Explorer could show me. Normally I see nxservice64.exe running, and sometime nxplayer.bin. When I launch NoMachine Service, I can see nxserver.exe with children conhost.exe and nxserver.bin start and very quickly shutdown. This continues about once/second until I shutdown NoMachine Service. I looked at the log files, but am a bit overwhelmed by the plethora of errors and need some expert guidance on where to go next.

    Thanks Britgirl.

Is there a workaround that I could employ while waiting for the repair in v5.3?

If the lssas.exe process is working in protected mode one, possible workaround is to configure antivirus software, so that it doesn’t enable additional security settings in Windows. In AVG it’s possible to check ‘Disable antivirus self protection’ option.

Other anti-viruses can have a different name for this setting. In the worst case scenario, the user needs to completely disable/uninstall antivirus software.
