    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has come across this issue and if there is a solution from NoMachine’s side:

I wanted to use the Sublime Text Editor with NoMachine, but it turns out that it behaves really slowly when used with NoMachine (a lot slower than e.g. emacs on NoMachine; and the editor itself used locally is very fast). On the Sublime forum, I was told this is due to Sublime having its own internal compositor and redrawing the entire window (they compared it to how a video game performs; see post below)

    https://forum.sublimetext.com/t/sublime-renders-extremly-slow-on-nomachine/24154/16

From their end, they are not going to change anything. I was wondering if there is anything that could be done with NoMachine to improve this? While everything is re-drawn by Sublime, it is a text editor meaning that usually other than the small cursor blinking, little changes.

    Thank you for your help

    Hi Holger,

what NoMachine product are you using? Can I assume that you are running a Virtual Desktop session?

In that case, you may try to disable the ‘X11 vector graphics mode’ on the server, via the Performance tab in the ‘Server preferences’ UI or by changing the AgentX11VectorGraphics key in ‘/usr/NX/etc/node.cfg’. That mode is specifically optimized for multimedia content.

In any case, I would check if H.264 encoding is being used. You can check that in the session menu of your NoMachine Player, at the botton of ‘Display settings’ menu.
