    Hi Folks,

I installed version 5.1.26 on five machines:

    • Windows Server 2008R2
    • Windows Seven Desktop (Count:two)
    • Feroda 20
    • Centos 7

It works brilliantly, I must say. There’s always ONE machine! I have a third Windows Seven desktop…

Installation works without complaint. No errors are reported. The server claims to start but never advertises its presence. The installation did not create a …/var directory, consequently, no logs are to be found. Nothing listens on port 4000, but netstat -ab shows a lot of NoMachine activity:

    Active Connections

Proto  Local Address          Foreign Address        State
    TCP    0.0.0.0:5473           ORDER:0                LISTENING                                [nxservice64.exe]
    TCP    0.0.0.0:5475           ORDER:0                LISTENING                                [nxservice64.exe]
    TCP    127.0.0.1:20000        ORDER:0                LISTENING                                [nxplayer.bin]
    TCP    127.0.0.1:24000        ORDER:0                LISTENING                                [nxnode.bin]
    TCP    127.0.0.1:55909        ORDER:0                LISTENING                                [nxclient.bin]

    TCP    127.0.0.1:9409         ORDER:50258            ESTABLISHED                              [nxclient.bin]    (Times 6…)
    TCP    127.0.0.1:12084        ORDER:50508            ESTABLISHED                              [nxserver.bin]  (Times 5…)
    TCP    127.0.0.1:15201        ORDER:50485            ESTABLISHED                              [nxnode.bin]   (Times 2…)
    TCP    127.0.0.1:22152        ORDER:50277            ESTABLISHED                              [nxplayer.bin]   (Times 2…)
    TCP    127.0.0.1:24830        ORDER:50484            ESTABLISHED                              [nxservice64.exe]  (times 2…)

I see four obvious processes in the task manager:

    • nxclient.bin * 32
    • nxplayer.bin * 32
    • nxserver.bin * 32
    • nxserver.exe * 32

as well as “conhost”, which is related, I know, only because both “nxserver” processes blink in and out synchronously with a conhost as the server process fails, restarts and fails again in an endless cycle, but logs nothing I can find.

So, something funny is going on and I’m not sure how to diagnose this.

    Any advice?

    Thanks for the help,

    Chris.

    Hello cjm51213,

Please check again if ‘C:\ProgramData\NoMachine\var\log\’ directory doesn’t exist.

If you didn’t notice any errors during installation, it’s very unlikely that this directory wasn’t created.

If you find the directory, please send us the logs gathered using instructions: https://www.nomachine.com/DT07M00098.

If there’s no log directory, try reinstalling NoMachine application.

Should the problem persist, please send the ‘C:/Users/<USER_NAME>/AppData/Local/Temp/Setup-Log….2016-06-…’ file to forums[at]nomachine[dot]com using this topic as subject. If there are multiple files starting with ‘Setup-Log’ send them all.

    Kind regards,
