    Hi

I’m running NoMachine Workstation trial and trying to configure the server to use virtualgl in virtual desktops.  The computer running the server has ubuntu 16.04 and one nvidia video card. However running anything that uses opengl gives me the following error

    ~$ /usr/NX/scripts/vgl/vglrun paraview

    No protocol specified

[VGL] ERROR: Could not open display :0.

VirtualGL is enabled in the configuration

Connection to the physical desktop works fine.

I’m attaching the logs and the config.

    Thanks in advance

I just noticed that gdm3 startup file does not contain vglgenkey, although it seems to be modified by the virtualgl_config

And I’m running gdm3 instead of lightdm. It might be an issue related to this https://sourceforge.net/p/virtualgl/mailman/message/35412219/. I’m currently checking it out.

Hello Constantine. Did you find if the gdm3 issue was related?
I read the log you sent and found your X server was listening on display :1. I’d suggest to pass that display to vglrun: /usr/NX/scripts/vgl/vglrun -d :1 paraview

Hi graywolf, thanks. Yes, switching to lightdm effectively solved the problem. I could not try the display :1.
