    Dear Nomachine team,

thanks for version 4.1. It is really an improvement in many areas.

    However, I observed three issue:

    1. The full screen mode is still not working properly on a secondary screen. In Mavericks one is able to activate a menu bar on each screen. This menu bar is still not recognized by no machine. As a result, when transmitting a 1920×1200 picture from a server to a screen of the respective size, the picture is scrolling for some pixels (actually the amount of pixels the menu bar is taking) instead of being really full screen. This issue was not present in the old version and is very annoying.
    2. In 4.0.x it was possible to have two connections with the same user. I often used this feature together with a co-worker to show some stuff on the server machine. However, currently when a user with the same username connects, the other connection is dropped. Why was this behavior introduced? What is the current version of having two connection to the same physical display simultaneously?
    3. In several linux applications the font is still displayed very blurry. One example is VIM. There, all lines are blurry besides the line that is currently selected. The blurriness is changing from time to time, meaning that the font display does not remain constant. Please find a screenshot attached. Maybe it is due to the different colors that are present in the screen. However, this should still not happen, right?
    • Remote and Client Version: 4.1.28 (free)
    • Remote: Suse Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 11.2 – GNOME desktop – Terminal – VIM
    • Client: Mac OSX 10.9.1
    • Connection: Physical Display
    • Protocol: NX

    Thanks for your consideration.

This change was one of the most requested “improvements” and the topmost reason users of the 3 complained about the 4. They argue that if you are connecting to the same desktop you should do by a different user, not hand over your credentials to somebody.

The old behavior can be restored by changing the server configuration. Somebody will post to tell you how to do it. The problem is obviously that the guest user connecting to your machine should not have at all a system account, but for this to work you will have to wait the NoMachine Anywhere service.

The old behaviour can be restored by editing the server.cfg file.

Edit /usr/NX/etc/server.cfg by adding this line:

    ConnectPolicy automigrate=0

    Hi,

thanks for your answers. In general you are right: If you can connect to the same physical desktop with different users that would be even more preferable (since each user may use its own credentials). However, if we are trying this with two different users, one of the user has still to disconnect. In particular, a new window is shown whether I want to allow the connection of another user, which means that I would be disconnected. So allow me to rephrase my request:

I would like to be able that two user may connect to the same physical system seeing and interacting on the same physical screen. This is currently only possible with the workaround fra81 was posting. If I miss something here, would you please be so kind to explain to me how to enable the behavior I’m searching for?

    Hi fra81,

I tried your solution but it does not work. When my colleague is connecting, I’m kicked and vice versa.

    Thanks anyway.

Is this happening when connecting to Enterprise Server on Suse?

    Hi Britgirl,

nxserver –version provides: NoMachine – Version 4.1.28

Is there another option to get more information?

    Thanks for your help.

I am closing this thread and suggest that you open new ones if you are still encountering problems. @Getics, the free version allows one connection, which is probably why when your friend connects, you are thrown out.
