I have started having problems with video playback on the remote computer. Both local and remote machines running NoMachine free version 7.4.1. The remote computer is running Windows server 2019, and the local machine is Windows 10. I also have this problem when both machines are Windows 10 based. When I try to play a video through a browser (Youtube, Dailymotion, Vimeo, etc) it shows the thumbnail, but never starts playing. If I connect through WRD it plays fine. Restarting the computer makes it play through NoMachine, but only for a short period of time and it stops working again.

    Hi zerocool,

please try to open Server settings –> Performance tab, on the server machine, and uncheck the ‘Use acceleration for display processing’ option. Let us know if that works.

I have already tried that option with no success. I have also tried switching to VP8 and MJPEG (currently set to H.264 NVENC/DXVA) without any change in behavior. I have noticed that this problem happens the most when the computer wakes from hibernation or from sleep, the videos would still play through WRD.

    Hi,

we can’t reproduce this problem in our labs. Can you explain exactly what you see in the video when it doesn’t work? You can attach a screenshot, if you want.

When using WRD, do you connect to the same desktop where also NoMachine is connected (that is the physical display)?

Finally, please make another test. While keeping ‘Use acceleration for display processing’ disabled, edit the ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\NoMachine\etc\node.cfg’ and add this line:

    DisplayServerExtraOptions "-nodxgigrab"

Restart the NoMachine server and try again.

The problem seems to have disappeared now. I will do the testing when it happens again
