We have NoMachine installed on a Linux server machine.
Now we would like to be able to connect more then one person to the server. What license to I need?

PS: With connection I mean creating a remote desktop session. Seeing the UI.

If you want to be able to run multiple individual desktops on the same Linux host and each user connect to their own, you could start with the Workstation edition which allows up to 4 Linux desktop (what we call virtual desktops).
If, on the other hand, you want multiple users to be able to connect to the same physical desktop so they are all seeing the same thing, Enterprise Desktop will let you do this. Compare the free version with Enterprise Desktop here: https://www.nomachine.com/remote-access-for-everyone.

On the connecting side you can either keep NoMachine (the free server/client) or if you just want the client, download and install Enterprise Client for your OS.
So then I guess NoMachine Small Business Server is what we are looking for. How can I check whether the hardware decoding on the server is working?

You add Terminal Server Node to an Enterprise Terminal Server. Check out the tutorial in the Tutorials section of the Support page.

We only have have one server where everybody want to connect to.
So then I guess all the terminal products doesn’t make sense for us?
Acki, it depends what you want to do.

Do you want people to connect to the same remote desktop, so they all see the same thing? If so, you need Enterprise Desktop. All users can connect with their own account and they will all see the same activity on the remote desktop. This is also what the free edition does, with the exception of only one connection being allowed at any one time.
Or do you want people to be able to connect to their own individual desktop, where each of these desktops is running on the same host? If so, this is what we call Linux Terminal Server. It’s available only for Linux. So the example I gave earlier with Workstation – 4 single users can connect and each have their own Linux desktop, each one is separate from the other. If other users want to connect to these virtual desktops, they can view and interact (if permitted by the owner of the desktop). The number of virtual desktops cannot exceed 4, the total number of connections is unlimited.
How can I check whether the hardware decoding on the server is working?
Connect to the remote desktop and open the connection menu Ctrl-Alt-0. Menu > Display > Change settings. Check what’s indicated at the bottom of the panel as in picture. More info is available here: https://www.nomachine.com/DT07M00087#5
We have at least 10 people who wants to connect all to the same server and every one should get their own virtual desktop.
The server is a Linux machine with 32 cores and 250GB RAM, so there is enough power.
1) When I understand you now correctly the maximum number of virtual desktops is limited to 4? We cannot increase it with any version, thats a limitation of NoMachine?

I didn’t say that 🙂 Let me take you back to the table I pasted in another reply. Make your choice from those products. You mention 10, so Small Business Server might be what you need. It will give you 10 virtual desktops. The next one, which gives you unlimited, is Terminal Server.
