I’m using nomachine 4.x.  When I establish a new virtual session I noticed that the created session has all the wrong ulimit values. It seems that the launching of the virtual session is somehow happening in the wrong process or user context. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

    Hello, all!

I noticed some problems with ulimit in virtual session too:

different values of “core file size” and “open files” in “ulimit -a” output when executed locally and executed in NX Virtual Session.

I added only this two lines to /etc/security/limits.conf:

    *softnofile10000

    *hardnofile12000

    Server and Client OS: ubuntu-12.04-server-i386.iso

    Server package: nomachine-enterprise-server-evaluation_4.0.369_2_i386.deb

    Client package: nomachine-enterprise-client_4.0.369_1_i386.deb

    Check this article:

Dan25: yes, its enables user limits on Ubuntu, but my trouble with “open files” was still present.

Problem is that I can’t increase “open files” limit by limits.conf.

snejok, we confirm that soft limit for open files is set to 1024 when starting a session. Hard limit for open files and other limits should be preserved.

We will provide a patch, but in the meantime you can set the open files soft limit with help of ‘ulimit -Sn 12000’ just before starting application that requires it.

    Thank you, reza!

I can wait for a new version, it’s not so serious for me 🙂

I’m now going to close this thread. The problem can be tracked via the Trouble Report that was opened.
