I’m sorry if our answer didn’t address your issue; however the password is not related to NoMachine (but to Windows) and so you should refer to your system user guide to know how to set the password.

Do you have the possibility to contact your office network administrator, and ask to open a port forwarded to the target machine ?

You don’t have to create a user, as NoMachine uses a system user that is already created on the server side (System username and password).

While it is common on Windows not to set a password, one must be set if someone wants to use NoMachine (this is for security limitations).

I confirm your assumption, but recommend to test the product to make sure it corresponds to your needs.

Concerning your follow-up question: by default, only privileged system users (root or ‘sudo’ users on Linux and Mac, administrator users on Windows) are allowed to connect to the physical desktop of the Cloud Server host. You can disable it by setting in the server configuration:

EnableAdministratorLogin 0

Based on your description, the best setup is NoMachine Cloud Server + NoMachine Enterprise Desktop.

We are still unable to reproduce the problem.

Logs would indeed be useful, you can send them to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com, referencing the topic as subject.

We need logs of player and server both from rpi machine, plus server.cfg and node.cfg. – to check if some option(s) were changed, which provokes the problem.

Can you also explain us how you want to use that Smart Card Authentication (a step by step description would be nice), as we wonder if the USB will be needed, or not, do achieve what you want to.
