We use Linux Mint for our tests, and to be honest it’s probably one of easier Linux distros out there (and there are hundreds of variations). We’ve not been able to reproduce the problem you are encountering with our standard free version for Linux, and the latest version of Mint. It’s unlikely that a VM would be the cause of this behaviour. Linux Mint is pretty much “out-of-the-box”, and NoMachine installs out-of-the-box on all supported distros, plus we test many, many more, including not so popular ones.

The desktop environment, however, shouldn’t be based on Wayland because NoMachine hasn’t added support for this yet. So you need to choose an alternative DE if you are using it, see our Feature Request for more details: https://www.nomachine.com/FR10N03221

You don’t mention the actual version of Mint you are using, nor the desktop environment (DE). For example, KDE or Gnome? Another maybe?

… sometimes screen elements/text aren’t rendered properly in the NoMachine windows client and/or there are phantom images that won’t go away.

    Can you provide a screenshot?

As for Quantum, we have this version on all our test machines and don’t have any issues whatsoever.

So you need to tell us:

    – the DE and Mint version

    – clarify phantom images with a screenshot

@molokovskikh, it’s worth checking the loopback configuration as ‘og00r’ suggested. Let us know what you find.

Whilst we were investigating we found a similar issue which is affecting Windows 7 when an application is placed on the NoMachine mounted disk.

It’s not a bug but rather a missing functionality 🙂 A new Feature Request has been inserted into our roadmap which will add support for DUO security. Please consult the Feature Request here: https://www.nomachine.com/FR01P03575. Until then, a possible workaround is to configure Duo Auth to automatically pass the code without asking for the method, and selecting the protocol to SSH in the session set-up.

We are still waiting for more information from you (I sent you a direct email, maybe you didn’t get it?) If you are still having the same problem can you send us the requested info?

    The content was:

Some logs are still missing. Maybe there is a problem with permissions in accessing logs directory?

Can you try to look in:

    C:\ProgramData\NoMachine\var\log\node

Did you follow the instructions here?

    https://www.nomachine.com/getting-started-with-nomachine-for-android

Step 2: Log in to the remote computer

You will be prompted to log in using the credentials for your account on the remote computer. Use your usual account credentials.

When using NoMachine, you must have an account on the remote computer you want to connect to and use the credentials of that account when prompted (see fig. 4 in the Tutorial I pasted above).

I updated to NoMachine version 6.0.62 for Ubuntu 14.04.5 amd64 from 5.3. Now I can’t log in because NoMachine asks for password for the two-factor authentication. How can I get fix this? I don’t have the installer for the previous version anymore.

If you are referring to the NoMachine login, please see the following article:

Do you mean you have the evaluation Enterprise Desktop installed on the remote host that you are connecting to?

I just realised you have Ubuntu 17.10. This uses the Wayland protocol which NoMachine doesn’t support yet. There’s a Feature Request in the Knowledge Base which also includes a workaround until its implementation.  https://www.nomachine.com/FR10N03221

    Welcome aboard 🙂

I assume you have the latest version 6 from our website.

Whilst we queue up for investigation, please take a look at this section from the Quick Guide to the NoMachine GUI: https://www.nomachine.com/DT10O00154#3.6. This is how you can identify the version you are using.

    In the logs we see:

    2017-11-16 03:10:52 591.999 12555 NXNODE   NXTryBindLocal for port: 4001 return: -1
2017-11-16 03:10:52 592.047 12555 NXNODE   tcp port ‘4001’ is used by another application

    Try allocating a different port.

NoMachine lets you blank the screen and lock the keyboard/mouse whilst an unattended computer is in use (remotely) I.e if your computer is on a table where there are others walking by, they don’t see what is being displayed.

Until the following FR is implemented, https://www.nomachine.com/FR05N03110, after you’ve finished working, it’s important you remember to log out of your account before disconnecting from NoMachine.

You can sign up to receive notification of its implementation.
