Nodes were added fine but I found their performance degraded if any changes were made on the node which lives on the same machine where also NX server lives.
I was changing some logging options (destination and log level) on the nodes and found that nodes would randomly start to run extremely slowly even when I’d revert changes. I still didn’t figure out which change would cause this. Restarting of NXServer daemon would fix it but is not the nicest way to solve this. I will test a bit more and come back about it.
I suspect this can be due to some process becoming confused and entering an infinite loop.
Please run top when this happens and see if there is any process showing at 100%.
If you can, also attach with gdb and see if you can take a backtrace.
Otherwise get in contact with our support so they can provide instructions on how to do that.

I’m already using VirtualGL with version 3.5 without problems and was hoping there’s an automatic way now to provide 3D acceleration in version 4. Is there any time frame when it would be available?
In the 4.1 we run here, VirtualGL is now the default. Unfortunately I cannot give any release date yet.
if you don’t have admin privileges you can ask your administrator to check if the old session is still alive. In any case version 3.3.0-14 is no longer supported.
We have split this topic into two separate ones because it deals with two different issues.
You can find them here:

the fact that you are experiencing a connection problem on your Windows x64 and not on the Windows 32-bit machines is not necessarily related to the computer architecture (Windows packages are suitable for both 32bit and 64bit).
Can you please send server side logs to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com? You can refer to previous post for instructions.November 6, 2013 at 18:06 in reply to: Can't connect to my PC, multiple errors in logs on server #545
can you please send server side logs to support ?
The /var/log folder on Windows is:
%PROGRAMDATA%\NoMachine\var\log on Windows Vista, 7 and 8.
Please compress this folder and send to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com.
Is your Operating System at 64bit ?
Are you installing the package for amd64?
it seems that you are trying to install package nomachine_4.0.362_1_i386.deb over a previous nomachine installation version 4.0.362-3.
Please try to uninstall the previous installation:
sudo dpkg -r nomachine
Verify also that the /etc/NX has been removed when uninstalling completed. If not please delete the /etc/NX directory manually.
Then proceed with the fresh new install:
sudo dpkg -i nomachine_4.0.362_1_i386.deb
Are you connecting to the physical desktop or are you creating a new virtual desktop?
If it’s a virtual desktop, which is the keyboard layout on your client machine?
In case of virtual desktop sessions, NoMachine tries to set the keyboard in the session according to the current keyboard layout on the client machine.
You can change the keyboard on the server. Look for keyboard layout in system settings.
can you please provide output of this command?
It’s for checking if iptables are still on for some reasons.
Is your Portal Server using the default configuration? I.e. Is it configured to connect to the server on the local host (ServerHost localhost is set in portal.cfg file) or to a different server machine?
If Portal Server connects to the server on its host machine, you should be able to see the previous ‘Default Connection’ session listed among the available sessions when you connect again by web.
If you don’t see it listed, it can be that some problems occurred. In this case it could be useful to see logs, namely nxserver.log from /usr/NX/var/log.
Please set debug log level: edit /usr/NX/etc/server.cfg , /usr/NX/etc/node.cfg and /usr/NX/etc/portal.cfg
uncomment and set the following key: SessionLogLevel 7.
Then connect from the web, create the connection, close the browser. Connect again by web and get /usr/NX/var/log/nxserver.log

which package did you install on Ubuntu (e.g. NoMachine, Workstation) ?
does ubuntu server have to already have an XServer or Desktop Manager running
Yes, the XServer must be running to be able to connect to the physical desktop.
NoMachine (the free version) lets you access the physical desktop remotely and requires that the Xserver is running. You can also use NoMachine on a headless Linux server (without the need of having the X server running), more instructions are available here:
Any of the products from the Terminal Server range (e.g. Workstation or Terminal Server, https://www.nomachine.com/enterprise), allows to create virtual desktop sessions. In this case it’s not necessary to have the Xserver running.
Yes, you can. Run the following command to see when subscription expires:
$ sudo /usr/NX/bin/nxserver –subscription
In the current implementation, web users cannot save their session configuration. However, when the user creates a new virtual desktop, disconnects from that web session (for example by closing the web page) and connects again, he/she should find the previous session listed in the list of available connections. Double click on it to re-open that session.
The same should happen if the user closes the session by clicking on the Disconnect button from NoMachine menu -> Disconnect panel (ctrl+alt+0 or click on the page peel to open the menu) or by making system logout. If the user instead makes system shutdown the virtual virtual desktop session is terminate and cannot be re-opened later.
