    Hi Britgirl,

Nope it does not work. At least I can access. (split from https://forums.nomachine.com/topic/could-not-connect-to-the-server-error-is-11001-host-not-found/page/3

Another thing that I find hard is that you have file transfer, not folder transfer unless you zip. Also you can’t drag and drop from one machine to another. Is this going to change sometime in the future?

    Thanks.

you have file transfer, not folder transfer unless you zip. Also you can’t drag and drop from one machine to another.

File transfer is done via the !M in the system tray from the remote computer to the local desktop. You’ve probably seen the tutorial here: https://www.nomachine.com/sharing-files-between-computers

By folder transfer, do you mean ‘Connect a disk or drive’? You can do that via the connection menu.

    – Start a connection from your computer to the remote computer you want to access.
    – Once connected, open the session menu (Ctrl-Alt-0).
    – Go to Devices and click on ‘Connect a disk’.

Any disk drives available either on your PC/Mac or the remote one will show up like below, and you select the one you want to access.
Select the disk you want to connect in the session

A remote disk will show up in your local file explorer or finder. A local disk or drive will show up in your remote desktop’s explorer or finder.

Can you try this and let us know that it works?

Drag and drop should be working. Can you confirm what the OS and version is on your side and what you are connecting to? And what type of file are you trying to drag?

Thanks for the advice. It’s a little confusing but I understand.

I realize now I wasn’t clear enough. You don’t need to connect a disk to be able to drag and drop, you should just be able to drag a file (not folder) and drop it on the desktop (remote to local or local to remote). Does this work? If not, tell me your OS and version both sides, so we can investigate 🙂

    Hi Britgirl,

Drag and drop of folders does not work. Windows 10 16299.334 both sides.

I think I must have been editing my reply whilst you were posting yours 🙂
At the moment, dragging a folder is not supported. Only files, single or multiple, can be dragged and they will be dropped on to the desktop.

The implementation of this Feature Request will make copying files and folders easier letting you visualize two panes (remote vs local) .
